Description:

  • The Marketplace Relevance team builds Artificially Intelligent systems and algorithms that power Houzz search, recommendation, and personalization.
  • As a Machine Learning Engineer at Houzz, you will work at the forefront of innovation, leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
  • You will be responsible for taking high-level production problems, coming up with technical solutions, and driving the project from planning to production.
  • You will work closely with other team members to help build shared systems.
  • The role involves working cross-functionally across engineering, product, and design teams.
  • The tech stack includes Python, Java, Golang, SQL, Elasticsearch/Solr, Redis, and more.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience applying machine learning to build systems such as Search, Recommendation, Advertising, etc., with a track record of developing and deploying machine learning models in production.
  • A solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques is required.
  • A deep understanding of business results and drivers, along with a strong drive to influence business decisions and metrics, is essential.
  • You must have the ability to effectively work with business leads, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to synthesize data models and expert intuition into conclusions for non-experts.
  • Solid coding skills in a common programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or C++ are necessary.
  • Independence, self-motivation, and the drive to get tasks done are crucial.
  • A M.S., B.S., or Ph.D. (preferred) in Computer Science or related engineering disciplines is required.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of full-time relevant industry experience is expected.
