Description:
The Personalization team at Spotify is focused on enhancing the listening experience by providing tailored recommendations for music and podcasts.
The team is responsible for popular features like Blend and Discover Weekly, which are designed to help users decide what to listen to next.
The Machine Learning Engineer II will work closely with engineers, research scientists, and data engineers to prototype and productize advanced machine learning models.
The role involves developing and implementing production systems that improve listener experiences on the platform.
Responsibilities include designing, building, evaluating, shipping, and refining Spotifyโs products through hands-on machine learning development.
The engineer will also drive optimization, testing, and tooling to enhance the quality of recommendations.
Data analysis will be performed to establish baselines and inform product decisions.
Collaboration with a cross-functional agile team is essential to build new technologies and features.
Staying updated on the latest machine learning algorithms and techniques is a key part of the role.
Requirements:
Candidates must have professional experience in applied machine learning.
Extensive experience in a product and data-driven environment is required, with proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or C++, and Python experience is mandatory.
Hands-on experience in implementing or prototyping machine learning systems at scale is necessary.
Experience in architecting data pipelines and self-sufficiency in data acquisition for model building and evaluation is required, using tools like Dataflow, Apache Beam, or Spark.
A strong understanding of agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and disciplined experimentation is essential.
Candidates should have experience and a passion for fostering collaborative teams.
Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or other scalable machine learning frameworks is required.
Experience in building data pipelines and utilizing tools like Apache Beam or Spark for data needs is necessary.
