Description:
The Machine Learning Engineer II position focuses on building robust and scalable machine learning solutions to personalize activation, retention, and conversion funnels at Spotify.
The goal is to improve key business metrics such as subscriptions (SUBS) and monthly active users (MAU) through an ensemble of machine learning models.
The team aims to create a fully personalized and ML-optimized offer and trial targeting system to demonstrate the value of Spotify Premium to users.
Responsibilities include designing, building, evaluating, shipping, and refining Spotify’s product through hands-on machine learning development.
The role involves collaboration with a multi-functional agile team, including user research, design, data science, product management, and engineering.
The engineer will prototype new approaches and productionize solutions at scale for hundreds of millions of active users.
The position also requires driving optimization, testing, and tooling to enhance quality.
The engineer will be part of an active group of machine learning practitioners within Spotify.
Requirements:
A strong background in machine learning, both in theory and practice, is essential for this role.
The candidate should be comfortable explaining the intuition and assumptions behind machine learning concepts; experience in the messaging space is a plus.
Hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining production machine learning systems using Python, Scala, and libraries like TensorFlow or PyTorch is required.
The candidate must have experience in building data pipelines and be self-sufficient in acquiring the necessary data to build and evaluate models.
Preferably, the candidate should have experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
