Description:

Cohere is seeking a Machine Learning Intern/Co-op for Winter 2025 to help scale intelligence and serve humanity through AI systems.
The intern will design, train, and improve cutting-edge models, and develop new techniques for safer, better, and faster model training and serving.
Responsibilities include training large-scale models on massive datasets, exploring continual and active learning strategies for streaming data, and collaborating with product teams to develop solutions.
The role offers an opportunity to learn from experienced senior machine learning staff and to contribute to the development of state-of-the-art models.
Applicants must be students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and available for a full-time 3-6 month internship, co-op, or research work term.

Requirements:

Proficiency in Python and related machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, TF-Serving, JAX, and XLA/MLIR is required.
Experience with large-scale distributed training strategies is necessary.
Familiarity with autoregressive sequence models, particularly Transformers, is expected.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
A demonstrated passion for applied NLP models and products is important.
Bonus qualifications include experience writing kernels for GPUs using CUDA, experience training on TPUs, and having papers published at top-tier venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
