Description:
Earth Species Project (ESP) is a non-profit research lab and impact organization dedicated to using AI to understand animal communication and conservation.
ESP partners with biologists and machine learning researchers worldwide and is supported by philanthropists like the Paul G Allen Family Foundation and the National Geographic Society.
The Machine Learning Operations Engineer will apply data engineering and machine learning techniques to challenges in bioacoustics, animal communication, and conservation.
Responsibilities include managing ML infrastructure, collaborating with scientists and partners, developing data pipelines, optimizing and deploying ML models, maintaining code base, creating demo applications, and continuous learning.
The ideal candidate will transition into a leadership role and have a strong background in data engineering, machine learning, and a passion for environmental science and conservation.
Requirements:
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
Co-authored publications at top AI conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI.
Experience training large ML models on large datasets, infrastructure building, and software development using Python.
Proficiency in developing data collection and processing pipelines, deploying ML models at scale, and working with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure providers like GCP, Azure, AWS, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, experience in a startup environment, and leadership potential.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with bioacoustics or animal communication, passion for environmental science, and experience with Python audio processing libraries.
Benefits:
Salary range of $155,000-185,000 USD depending on seniority.
