Description:
Perceptive Space is focused on enhancing humanity's resilience to space weather, which affects the performance of space-borne technologies and human health.
The company aims to improve the accuracy of space weather predictions to prevent operational losses such as satellite deorbit, failed launches, and GPS outages.
As a Machine Learning Scientist, you will develop foundational machine learning models for safe and efficient operations of satellites, launch vehicles, and human missions under varying space weather conditions.
You will innovate and enhance machine learning's predictive capabilities for space weather, redefining mission success and safety for both satellite and human missions.
Responsibilities include architecting, building, scaling, and improving machine learning algorithms, managing projects with high ambiguity and complexity, and researching innovative machine-learning approaches.
Requirements:
A Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Atmospheric Science is required.
Candidates must have at least 3 years of industry experience in building, optimizing, and deploying large-scale deep learning models.
A high level of autonomy and critical thinking is necessary to take full ownership of projects.
A proven track record of delivering production-ready machine learning models is essential.
Strong foundations in software engineering, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing, are required.
Experience with time-series and scientific data is necessary.
Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks like Keras, TensorFlow, and PyTorch is required.
Familiarity with tools and frameworks such as ML Flow, Ray, Dask, and Numba is expected.
Experience deploying machine learning solutions on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure is necessary.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering peers and non-engineering stakeholders.
Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or exempt under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) to comply with Canadian regulations related to the space industry.
