Description:

• Techstra is seeking an experienced Mainframe to Cloud Migration Architect with a minimum of 10 years of legacy platform rewrite experience.
• The role involves leading the transformation of a large legacy mainframe system to a modern cloud-based application platform.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess and plan the rewrite and migration of core functional capabilities of a legacy mainframe application.
• The architect will analyze existing mainframe systems, identify core functions, data structures, and processes, and develop strategies for migration to cloud-native applications.
• The position requires designing and implementing solutions for migrating mainframe applications to modern architectures, such as cloud-based or distributed systems.
• The architect will gather requirements and define success criteria for the mainframe rewrite project in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Close collaboration with application developers and architects is necessary to ensure seamless integration of modernized components.
• The role includes evaluating and selecting appropriate tools and technologies to support migration efforts.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship during the modernization process is expected.
• Conducting thorough testing and debugging of modernized applications to ensure high performance and reliability is part of the responsibilities.
• Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to mainframe modernization is essential.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
• Proven experience as a Mainframe Modernization/Migration Lead or in a similar role is necessary.
• Proficiency with mainframe technologies, languages, and environments such as COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, DB2, IMS, CICS, and VMS is required.
• Hands-on experience with migration tools, frameworks, and methodologies is essential.
• Development experience with modern technologies including Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, Microservices, Angular, Kubernetes, Kafka, APIs, REST, and various cloud services is needed.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail are required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment is essential.
