Description:

  • Pion is seeking a passionate and experienced Backend Engineer to join their Software Development team due to steady growth plans.
  • The role involves working as part of a cross-functional squad within an Agile environment, collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver first-class products and features on the Student Beans app.
  • Responsibilities include backend development of the B2B SaaS product, Verification Tech, and Website.
  • The engineer will partake in squad stand-ups, ceremonies, and deliver results within Agile working environments that operate on 2-week sprints.
  • The position requires collaboration within a wider cross-functional squad and communication with multiple stakeholders.
  • The engineer will participate in team-wide code reviews and write tests to ensure outgoing code is robust and reliable.
  • Raising errors, issues, or concerns to the wider Guild and bringing in new ideas is expected.
  • Open and proactive communication with the squad is essential, along with a positive and passionate approach.
  • The engineer will prioritize workload in line with wider business goals and squad goals.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have current industry experience in Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience with unit testing is required.
  • A passion for Ruby/Ruby on Rails and backend development, along with an interest in keeping up to date with the latest technologies, is essential.
  • A positive approach to working within a cross-functional squad in an Agile environment is necessary.
  • Experience with MySQL/NoSQL is helpful but not essential.
  • The ability to communicate backend technologies and perspectives to non-technical individuals is required.
