Description:

  • Knock is a remote-first seed stage startup based in New York, focused on improving product notifications for users.
  • The company is looking for its first mobile engineer to lead the development and direction of mobile initiatives.
  • The role involves defining the roadmap for a best-in-class mobile experience and building features and SDKs for managing cross-channel notifications in mobile apps.
  • Responsibilities include owning the cross-platform mobile engineering roadmap, writing and maintaining SDKs for Swift, Kotlin, React Native, and Flutter, and creating documentation and guides for customers.
  • The mobile engineer will work alongside developer success engineers to support mobile developers on the Knock platform and contribute to full-stack features in Typescript and Elixir.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 3+ years of experience writing production native applications in Swift or Kotlin, with familiarity in both platforms.
  • A passion for mobile engineering is essential, including knowledge of SwiftUI and/or Jetpack Compose, and the ability to discuss tradeoffs between native-native and hybrid-native applications.
  • Exposure to cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native is required, with a willingness to experiment with these technologies.
  • A strong understanding of API design fundamentals is necessary.
  • Prior experience in writing full-stack or backend services in Python, Node.js, Ruby, Go, or similar languages is a plus but not mandatory.
