Description:
The Bosch Research and Technology Center North America is seeking a research intern for the Robot Learning Lab in Pittsburgh.
The intern will work on projects at the intersection of Robotics, Embodied AI, Multimodal Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing.
Responsibilities include developing algorithms for simulated and real-world robotics tasks, such as interactive object perception, mobile manipulation, and instruction-following for robot navigation.
The intern is expected to design, implement, and evaluate methodologies based on best practices and insights from literature and team discussions.
Key challenges include leveraging foundation models for decision-making, determining regularization strategies, ensuring model robustness, and conducting performance characterization and error analysis.
The intern will also contribute to the preparation of industrial patents and collaborate on publishing a research paper in a major conference venue.
Requirements:
A strong background in machine learning, particularly in multimodality and representation learning, is required.
A strong background in Robotics or Embodied Artificial Intelligence is necessary.
Extensive experience in implementing neural models from scratch using PyTorch is essential.
Proficiency with data analytics toolkits such as numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn is required.
Experience in implementing, training, fine-tuning, and evaluating performance of CV models, NLP models, and policies is necessary.
Software development experience in Python on Linux-based systems is required.
Experience in training neural models on multi-machine or multi-GPU setups is essential.
A strong publication history in top conference venues is required, indicating maturity as a researcher.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Large Language Models, Vision-Language Models, and foundation models grounded in other modalities.
A strong theoretical background in AI/ML/Robotics topics is preferred.
Candidates must be pursuing a doctoral degree or be current post-doctoral researchers in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
Benefits:
The U.S. base salary range for this intern position is $30.00-$58.00 hourly, with individual pay determined by factors such as degree type, work experience, and job knowledge.
