Description:

The MySQL Database Consultant position is a full-time remote role based in India, requiring working hours from 5:30 AM IST to 1:30 PM IST.
The consultant will work closely with customer teams to understand their needs in both project-based and long-term support capacities.
Responsibilities include creating and documenting database standards, optimizing queries, indexes, and data structures.
The consultant will monitor and support database environments, serving as an escalation point for complex troubleshooting and interactive production support.
The role involves using vendor-provided tools and Pythian-developed accelerators to performance tune various database systems, specific queries, and application scenarios.
The consultant will diagnose and address database performance issues using performance monitors and various tuning techniques.
Identifying areas of opportunity and recommending appropriate improvement suggestions is also part of the job.
The consultant will collaborate with the site reliability engineering organization to configure and deploy high-availability and disaster recovery solutions for critical applications.
Cross-functional training in MongoDB, Ansible, and Python is encouraged.
The consultant will author blog posts for the open-source community, create articles for the customer-facing knowledge base, and host webinars, as well as participate in conferences and meetups.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5-8 years of overall experience as a Database Consultant is required for this role.
Specialized knowledge and experience in installing, configuring, and upgrading MySQL databases and MySQL Administration is necessary.
Debugging skills, along with experience in MongoDB and scripting/automation tooling, are a significant plus.
The candidate must have a strong ability to work in both a team-oriented environment and independently with minimal supervision.
Adaptability and a quick learning ability are essential.
A good customer service focus with the ability to manage customer expectations and priorities is required.
The candidate should be disciplined in their learning process, self-motivated, and have keen attention to detail.
Good analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities are necessary, along with effective organizational skills and sound work ethics.
Excellent documentation skills are required.
Understanding of current IT service standards such as ITIL is a nice-to-have.
Experience with scripting (bash/python) and Ansible is a huge plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
The candidate should be a contributor to Open Source projects relevant to MySQL, MongoDB, or other database or infrastructure software.
