Description:
The Network Engineer will support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by disseminating data to researchers focused on improving care quality and reducing costs for chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries.
Responsibilities include maintaining Virtual Firewalls in AWS and Azure, and configuring connectivity between these platforms.
The role involves identifying deficiencies in existing Network Management platforms and proposing solutions, which may include identifying currently undeployed COTS platforms.
The engineer will provide customizations to existing Network Management implementations to enhance fault identification and problem resolution.
Support will be provided for integrating multiple COTS vendor products into seamless operations for various Cloud Deployment Models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and for a Network Operations Center (NOC).
The position also requires designing new Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) networks and planning the transition from IPv4 to IPv6.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field, along with 2 years of general work experience is required.
Candidates should have knowledge of architecting and configuring Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) Network Management solutions for Government applications.
Experience working with Linux is necessary.
Industry-recognized certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) are preferred.
A strong troubleshooting ability is essential, including experience in disaster recovery operations and on-call rotations for constant network support.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Powershell is required.
