Remote Network Management Plane/Automation Software Development Engineer

Description:

• The Network Management Plane/Automation Software Development Engineer position at Hedgehog is ideal for a networking enthusiast with a deep understanding of open networking.
• The role involves contributing to the development of an Open Network Operating system, collaborating with the Open Source Community, support organization, and customers to enhance user experience and platform stability.
• Responsibilities include implementing automated test and certification labs, creating automated test cases for the software factory system, and resolving product issues and defects.
• The ideal candidate should be a skilled software engineer with expertise in networking, network management/automation, and real-time distributed systems programming.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Go, Rust, C++, or C is required, along with knowledge of tools like Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, Git, Jira, and Jenkins.
• Experience with NETCONF, YANG, OpenConfig, gNMI, and Kubernetes control plane is highly desired.
• Familiarity with open network operating systems, routing stacks, routing protocols, Layer 2 technologies, overlays, BGP-based underlays, BGP EVPN, NPL, P4, OpenFlow, and network test tools is essential.
• Cloud-native networking technology experience with Kubernetes, Service Mesh, API Gateways, OpenStack networking, Wireguard, MetalLB, Traefik, and Envoy is a huge plus.
• Candidates should have proven experience with cloud, data center, or edge networking products, debugging customer issues, and enterprise deployments.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Go, Rust, C++, C.
• Working knowledge of Terraform, Pulumi, or Ansible is a plus.
• Familiarity with tools like Git, Jira, Jenkins.
• Experience with NETCONF, YANG, OpenConfig, gNMI is highly desired.
• Hands-on experience with open network operating systems, routing stacks, routing protocols, Layer 2 technologies, overlays, BGP-based underlays, BGP EVPN, NPL, P4, OpenFlow.
• Strong skills in packet decoding, reading pcap files, and analyzing sniffer traces.
• Cloud-native networking technology experience with Kubernetes, Service Mesh, API Gateways, OpenStack networking, Wireguard, MetalLB, Traefik, Envoy is a huge plus.
• Proven experience with cloud, data center, or edge networking products, debugging customer issues, and enterprise deployments.
