Description:

  • Wifinity is seeking a talented Network Operations Engineer to join their busy NOC team.
  • The role involves frontline management of incidents, communications, and escalations during a shift.
  • This is a hands-on position that includes working with public and private cloud services, large enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructures, and end user troubleshooting.
  • Responsibilities include utilizing monitoring systems to proactively identify and resolve potential issues, conducting first line analysis of incidents, and crafting clear incident communications for stakeholders.
  • The engineer will work with internal stakeholders and customer site champions for initial triage and will be responsible for ticket management, including prioritization, allocation, and resolution.
  • Customer calls into Network Operations will be handled during shifts, and detailed handovers of open issues and planned maintenance to the next shift are required.
  • Network-related tasks such as configuration, network monitoring system maintenance, and administration will be undertaken.
  • Maintaining infrastructure documentation and developing a knowledge base to improve team knowledge and troubleshooting is also part of the role.
  • The engineer will focus on identifying and assessing customer needs to achieve and exceed customer satisfaction, building sustainable relationships with customers through open communication, and providing appropriate solutions to customer queries.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be proactive and driven, with the ability to persist with problems that arise.
  • A strong desire to learn new technologies, develop advanced networking skills, and share knowledge across the team is essential.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team, potentially covering extended working hours, is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Proven experience in a network operations centre, ideally in the ISP/Telecoms industry, is required.
  • Candidates should have experience with incident management processes and prioritization.
  • A working knowledge of monitoring systems and network management platforms is necessary.
  • The ability to multi-task and handle a combination of fault types simultaneously is essential.
  • It is preferred, but not essential, to have technical knowledge of Wireless Technologies, an understanding of RADIUS protocol, WiFi standards, general Wireless principles, security protocols, and firewalls.
  • A CCNA or equivalent experience is also desirable.
