Remote OpenShift Administrator

Description:

• The OpenShift Administrator will be responsible for monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Red Hat OpenShift cluster.
• This role involves providing technical support, troubleshooting problems, and performing scripting/programming to ensure stable and efficient operation of the OpenShift environment.
• Essential functions include performing installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the OpenShift Cluster.
• The candidate should have experience in OpenShift UPI and IPI 4.x clusters.
• The role requires ensuring that technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards.
• Expert-level experience with Kubernetes networking and troubleshooting (DNS, load balancers, service IPs, node ports, etc.) is necessary.
• The administrator will proactively monitor and report performance and utilization of assigned technologies.
• Responsibilities include log management and monitoring using tools like Splunk, fluentd, HEC, etc., in an OpenShift environment.
• Maintaining the health and optimal state for OpenShift clusters is a key duty.
• The role involves managing problem or escalated tickets and tasks and handling out-of-cycle requests from systems/software owners.
• The administrator will perform OpenShift cluster upgrades as needed and assist with developing tactical strategies, processes, and procedures related to systems/application administration.
• Architecting OpenShift as needed to meet application requirements (compute, storage, networking, and operations) is part of the job.
• Mid-level expertise with OpenShift, Dockers, and Containers (minimum 5+ years hands-on) is required.
• Experience with testing and deployment pipelines, and using Ansible, Jenkins for CI/CD is necessary.
• The candidate may provide input into infrastructure architecture designs and write programming/scripting.
• Participation in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises may be required.
• The administrator must ensure execution and alignment to architectural standards and blueprints and may contribute input to infrastructure architecture.
• On-call activities may be necessary for the environment and technologies.

Requirements:

• Extensive working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes Platform is required.
• The candidate must be competent working in one or more environments highly integrated with an operating system.
• Extensive experience implementing and administering/managing technical solutions in major, large-scale system implementations is necessary.
• High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that align with business objectives and strategy are essential.
• The ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities is required.
• The candidate should have the ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance.
• Clear and articulate communication of technical information is necessary.
• The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment is required.
• Experience using Agile methodology is preferred.
• Required experience includes 5-8 years of Systems Administration with Unix/Linux environments and 2-5 years of related work experience in OpenShift.
• A Bachelor's degree within the IT field or equivalent related work experience is required.
• Certifications required include Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, with Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Development preferred.
