Description:

  • The position is for a PHP Developer / DevOps to join the Moodle Community team on a 6-month independent contractor role.
  • The role allows for fully flexible work from anywhere in the European or APAC regions.
  • Responsibilities include crafting high-quality code, designing improvements for Moodle community sites, conducting code reviews, writing automated tests, and contributing to the future direction of Moodle software.
  • The role involves building and maintaining relationships with the Moodle HQ team and community members.
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep sense of open-source culture, experience with Moodle development, strong programming skills in PHP, knowledge of Moodle architecture, and proficiency in various technologies like PHP, SQL, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of open-source and free software culture.
  • Demonstrated experience with Moodle development using PHP and JS.
  • Strong programming experience in a medium to large-scale PHP development environment.
  • Knowledge of Moodle Architecture, Git, Jira, PHP, SQL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, web application security, performance, and scalability.
  • Experience with Web Services and RESTful applications.
  • Ability to organize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience contributing to Moodle, writing unit tests, and behat tests is a plus.
