Description:

  • Otto Aviation is developing the world’s first fifth-generation business jet focused on sustainability through advanced super-laminar aerodynamics and high-precision composites.
  • The company is seeking a dynamics, aeroelasticity, and flutter engineer to support the Flight Sciences group in analyzing the dynamic and aeroelastic responses of aircraft in flight.
  • The role involves working within a team to develop the most efficient aircraft and requires a first principles approach to engineering.
  • Responsibilities include performing flutter analysis and dynamic loads in accordance with Part 23 certification requirements, developing flutter margins for normal and failure conditions, and creating balanced, whole aircraft load distributions for dynamic load conditions.
  • The engineer will also develop dynamic responses for various aircraft components, perform analyses using commercial and in-house tools, and provide subject matter expertise in dynamic loads and flutter analysis.
  • Additional tasks include supporting ground vibration testing and flutter flight testing, participating in aircraft development activities, and developing certification documents for dynamic loads and flutter.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a specific technical discipline is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field is necessary.
  • Experience with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 Certification is essential.
  • Knowledge of transonic aircraft aerodynamics, ground vibration testing, and flutter flight testing is required.
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux, C/C++, Matlab, VBA, 3DX, Femap, Nastran, and Python is required.
  • Interpersonal skills such as active listening, critical thinking, organization, problem-solving, self-motivation, teamwork, and strong business communication are essential for success in this role.
