Description:
The Principal Backend Engineer will be responsible for driving architectural changes in Grafana to transform it into a proper app platform where open and proprietary apps can directly access dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry.
The role involves influencing the roadmap, delivering new features, and iterating to improve them based on results.
The engineer will design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
Embracing an open-source culture, contributing to projects beyond the team's scope, and mentoring other team members are key responsibilities.
The position requires active participation in on-call rotations, collaborating with the team, and continuously learning new skills related to the cloud product and distributed systems.
Requirements:
Solid experience with at least one programming language, preferably Go, but familiarity with Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar is acceptable.
Proven track record of delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping in a self-driven manner.
Experience in developing software for the Cloud or systems engineering.
Proficiency in writing clean, robust, and performant software that is easily maintainable by others.
Benefits:
The base compensation range for the role in the UK is £109,061 - £136,327, with actual compensation varying based on level, experience, and skillset.
