The Principal Data Engineer will lead data engineering efforts by collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn data into a strategic asset.
Responsibilities include architecting and overseeing the development of scalable data platforms, creating and maintaining advanced ETL pipelines using Python, and implementing real-time streaming data pipelines.
The role requires leveraging advanced SQL expertise, managing cloud storage systems, and applying advanced statistical methods for data analysis.
The position involves utilizing Snowflake for data warehousing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and establishing CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment.
The Principal Data Engineer will also mentor fellow data engineers and advocate for best practices in data system development.
This position allows for telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree or U.S. equivalent in a relevant field plus 5 years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles is required.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with massively parallel technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, or Spark.
Proficiency in prototyping Python-based ETL solutions and translating complex requirements into actionable tools is necessary.
Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, are required for this role.
Experience with data modeling and relational database technologies, particularly with data warehousing systems, is essential.
Candidates must have experience utilizing cloud platforms, specifically AWS or GCP.
Proficiency in using Spark for distributed data processing is also required.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of experience will be accepted.
