The Principal Data Platform Engineer will play a foundational role in designing and scaling the data infrastructure for agentic experiences and AI models.
This position reports directly to the CPTO and involves driving engineering excellence and influencing data strategy.
Responsibilities include architecting a modern, scalable, and cost-effective data platform, guiding data strategy in partnership with leadership, collaborating with Product Managers and SDEs to launch data-intensive features, ensuring data governance and security, and mentoring engineering teams.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or data platform roles, preferably in high-growth or startup environments.
A proven ability to build data infrastructure from the ground up and scale systems for complex workloads is essential.
Deep expertise in modern data architectures, including ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Lakes, Warehouses, Catalogs, and Real-time Streaming is required.
Cloud-native experience, particularly with AWS services like S3, Redshift, Glue, SageMaker, and Bedrock, is necessary; experience with Clickhouse, Airbyte, Rudderstack, Airflow, Metabase, and Posthog is a bonus.
A track record of shipping production-grade data products that drive business impact is expected.
Candidates should possess a strategic mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to influence technical direction while being comfortable with both architecture and coding.
