Description:

  • As a Principal Data Scientist, you will work at the interface between mathematics, programming, and infrastructure.
  • You will develop mathematical models in the area of machine learning and statistical learning that describe the effects of prices and promotions on purchasing behavior, including behavioral price effects.
  • You will find and apply a middle ground between the use of flexible modern AI methods and proven classical methods.
  • You will develop systems for optimization and "experimental design" that find the best strategies for each product.
  • To ensure the accuracy of our models, you will develop model validation (back-testing) methods to quantify the impact of our solutions on our clients' business.
  • You will work with product management to generate ideas and quickly turn them into efficient, well-tested, working code, primarily using R and Python.
  • In collaboration with the engineering team, you will contribute to the development of highly scalable solutions.
  • You will act as a Data Science expert both within the company and for our customers, performing custom analytics and connecting to actionable business, inventory, and pricing strategies.
  • You will prioritize the development of new features by evaluating potential impacts and act as a point of contact for data science-related questions about our product.

Requirements:

  • You must have completed a full course of university or technical college education in (business) informatics, data science, mathematics, or a comparable qualification.
  • You should possess core skills in linear algebra, hypothesis testing, Bayesian methods, regressions, maximum likelihood estimation, and both parametric and non-parametric estimation methods.
  • You need to have 3+ years of hands-on experience with data analysis and the development of intelligent algorithms, ideally in the retail or consumer products industries.
  • You must have experience analyzing large data sets and confidently applying appropriate analytics tools such as SQL, R, and Python.
  • You should have experience with Big Data environments and NoSQL technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and Hive.
  • You need to be independent and team-oriented, driving topics forward with reliability and conscientiousness.
  • Fluency in English is required.
