Description:
As a Principal Data Scientist, you will work at the interface between mathematics, programming, and infrastructure.
You will develop mathematical models in the area of machine learning and statistical learning that describe the effects of prices and promotions on purchasing behavior, including behavioral price effects.
You will find and apply a middle ground between the use of flexible modern AI methods and proven classical methods.
You will develop systems for optimization and "experimental design" that find the best strategies for each product.
To ensure the accuracy of our models, you will develop model validation (back-testing) methods to quantify the impact of our solutions on our clients' business.
You will work with product management to generate ideas and quickly turn them into efficient, well-tested, working code, primarily using R and Python.
In collaboration with the engineering team, you will contribute to the development of highly scalable solutions.
You will act as a Data Science expert both within the company and for our customers, performing custom analytics and connecting to actionable business, inventory, and pricing strategies.
You will prioritize the development of new features by evaluating potential impacts and act as a point of contact for data science-related questions about our product.
Requirements:
You must have completed a full course of university or technical college education in (business) informatics, data science, mathematics, or a comparable qualification.
You should possess core skills in linear algebra, hypothesis testing, Bayesian methods, regressions, maximum likelihood estimation, and both parametric and non-parametric estimation methods.
You need to have 3+ years of hands-on experience with data analysis and the development of intelligent algorithms, ideally in the retail or consumer products industries.
You must have experience analyzing large data sets and confidently applying appropriate analytics tools such as SQL, R, and Python.
You should have experience with Big Data environments and NoSQL technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and Hive.
You need to be independent and team-oriented, driving topics forward with reliability and conscientiousness.
Fluency in English is required.
