Description:

The Principal Data Scientist will work on the Delivery Technology Team at Gopuff, focusing on optimizing the delivery experience for consumers and delivery partners.
This role involves leading the vision and delivery of data-driven models across various areas including dispatch optimization, delivery routing/ETAs, and driver pricing/incentives.
The position requires collaboration with business, product, and engineering partners to develop data science solutions for practical business problems.
The candidate will need to deeply understand users, products, and data to identify opportunities for machine learning, optimization, and causal inference solutions.
Responsibilities include building robust and replicable data science models and using experimentation to measure the impact of these models on user engagement and business metrics.
The Principal Data Scientist will serve as a tech lead on the Delivery Technology Data Science team and provide mentorship to junior data scientists.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in data science is required.
Candidates must hold an MS or PhD in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative field.
Strong skills in translating ambiguous business problems into well-defined technical objectives and providing concrete data science solutions are essential.
Expertise in machine learning, statistics, and experimentation is required.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and source control management tools is necessary.
Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and business audiences are a must.
Candidates should be effective, resilient, resourceful, and kind.
Experience in delivery technology and dispatch optimization is preferred.

Gopuff offers a competitive salary based on market pricing, with a remote US salary range of $175,000 - $250,000.
The starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
