Description:
Nielsen is seeking a Principal Data Scientist specializing in Predictive Modeling to join their team in Mexico City, Mexico, with a remote work option.
The role involves designing, testing, and implementing recommendation engine models to convert sparse datasets into synthetic datasets, requiring proficiency in coding from scratch.
The candidate will validate model effectiveness through analytic research and communicate predictive power to both internal teams and clients.
Responsibilities include using iterative modeling to identify optimal parameters for sparse data and consulting with partners on data sourcing strategies.
The position also entails supporting the hiring and development of junior data scientists and serving as a subject matter expert in predictive modeling methodologies.
The candidate will define a vision for scaling models across larger datasets and support automation of routine processes.
Additional tasks include conducting analyses to address business opportunities, utilizing tools like Python, R, and SPSS for complex data analysis, and developing machine learning solutions.
The role requires the development of high-quality, modular Python code for integration into existing systems and assisting with ad hoc analyses and projects.
Requirements:
A strong educational background with a degree in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or Economics is required.
The candidate must have over 10 years of experience as a data scientist, particularly in predictive modeling and recommendation engines.
Technical proficiency in Python (including PyTorch), statistical tests, and machine learning techniques such as Decision Trees, Random Forests, and Neural Networks is essential.
Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and business intelligence tools like Tableau and Spotfire is necessary for data management and visualization.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required, along with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly in a fast-paced environment.
