Remote Principal Design Engineer

Description:

• NBCUniversal is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to join their Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) portfolio, which includes brands like Peacock, NOW, Fandango, SkyShowtime, Showmax, and TV Everywhere.
• The role involves working within the Global Streaming Product team, focusing on design excellence and collaboration with product managers, UX researchers, UX designers, product engineers, and data scientists.
• The primary function is to build prototypes that explore new features and experiences for the Peacock app across all platforms, as well as developing utilities and Figma plugins to enhance the design process.
• Responsibilities include working with cross-functional teams to create prototypes, improving design concepts, maintaining shared toolkits, accessing APIs for live data, and mentoring team members.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 8+ years of relevant work experience and a degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Design, or equivalent practical experience.
• A portfolio showcasing relevant work and code samples demonstrating proficiency in software development is required.
• Expert-level experience with HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, React Native, Swift, and Swift UI is necessary.
• Proficiency in design tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
• Strong experience in software development within a team environment, including participation in peer code reviews and adherence to coding standards, is required.
• Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience building and consuming APIs, and the ability to work autonomously on projects.
• A strong understanding of interaction and user experience design best practices, as well as experience presenting to various audiences, is important.
• Familiarity with web and cloud infrastructure, developing plugins for Figma, and experience with video content and international audiences is preferred.
• Experience with modern languages and frameworks, as well as Generative AI tools, is also beneficial.
