Description:

  • Coconut is seeking a seasoned Principal DevOps Engineer to join their team remotely in Canada.
  • The role involves collaborating with the VP of Engineering, CTO, Product, and Security to enhance the product and tackle complex technical challenges.
  • The successful candidate will represent senior technical leadership and should have a passion for problem-solving, mentoring, and elevating the devops and engineering team.
  • Responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of the infrastructure, anticipating needs, and understanding the broader technical vision of the product.
  • The position requires a strong grasp of software development practices and the ability to identify and address technical and delivery dysfunctions.
  • The team operates on a modern AWS environment, utilizing Terraform, RESTful architecture, relational databases (MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL), Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • The work culture promotes a blameless environment and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 15+ years of proven experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering role.
  • Mastery in quickly ramping up with new tools and frameworks is essential.
  • Expertise in cloud environments, preferably AWS, is required.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and managing Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD processes is necessary.
  • Fluency in monitoring tools and a strong background in Linux/Unix Administration are required.
  • Candidates should be proficient in various open-source technologies and cloud services to enhance the continuous deployment process.
  • A solid understanding of coding and scripting languages such as PHP, Python, Perl, and/or Ruby is needed.
  • Strong working experience with server architecture, DNS, ipv4/ipv6, and ACL is essential.
  • Experience with MariaDB/MySQL and Redis management is required.
  • Candidates should possess strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with exceptional communication abilities.
  • The ability to create thorough technical documentation and articulate design decisions is necessary.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and unblocking team members, are essential.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the Financial Industry is a bonus.
