Description:
The Principal Engineer, Core Platform will own the design and evolution of Reddit's Core Systems for the next 4 years to support continued scale and growth.
They will identify gaps in current designs and lead redesigns of the Core Platform to enhance Developer Velocity and Reddit's growth.
Responsible for defining best practices and ensuring their adoption by developers company-wide.
Act as the go-to person for developers on complex backend service development issues within the data space.
Lead technically minded peers on their journey within the organization.
Requirements:
Deep understanding of building sustainable software systems at a large scale engineering organization.
10+ years of Software Development experience with at least 5+ years in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP) and expertise in at least two programming languages.
Experience influencing larger organizations on technical direction and best practices.
Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that enhances developer experience and supports scale and reliability.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional experiences.
Strong focus on user experience, usability, scalability, reliability, and quality.
High empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work across the entire engineering organization.
