Description:
Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company focused on accelerating air travel through hypersonic aircraft development.
The Principal GNC Engineer will be responsible for the integration, testing, validation, and verification of Navigation instrumentation and GNSS components.
The role includes supporting the Navigation software suite and development efforts for advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems.
The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to ensure aircraft safety, performance, and efficiency.
Responsibilities include supporting Navigation, GNSS, INS/IMU, Localization, Fusion, and system integration efforts.
The engineer will conduct simulation studies to assess and optimize the Navigation suite's performance in aircraft.
Close communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams on Navigation model integration and simulation testing are essential.
The role involves running Monte Carlo simulations, conducting flight testing, and developing navigation and sensor fusion algorithms.
The engineer will prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation related to Navigation and instrumentation activities.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field is required.
A strong understanding of Navigation, GNSS, INS/IMU systems, filtering, fusion, and Navigation sensor suites is necessary.
Experience with Navigation sensor trade studies, selection processes, and Nav. sub-systems is essential.
Practical experience with filtering techniques such as KF, UKF, EKF, and Particle filters is required.
Familiarity with Navigation needs for autonomous flight systems is preferred.
Proficiency in MATLAB and Python, with familiarity in Julia and other modeling and simulation tools is needed.
Experience with Navigation sensor testing and data analysis is required.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
A passion for aviation and the development of advanced aircraft technologies is important.

The salary range for this position is $204,750 - $250,250 per year, based on various factors.
