Description:

We are hiring a Principal Backend Java Engineer with a strong background in large scale distributed systems.
You will work on one of the largest distributed systems in the world, running on thousands of machines and handling petabytes of data.
Your responsibilities will include developing infrastructure and solving technical challenges in distributed computing frameworks, data structures, and algorithms.
You will be designing and implementing next generation services for a customer transitioning from data centers to Public cloud infrastructure.
The role involves working on a complete Java stack that serves hundreds of billions of transactions daily.
Key responsibilities include developing scalable and innovative robust Java code for content aggregation, enhancing and deploying tools for processing textual data, collaborating with team members and stakeholders, writing detailed design documents, and coordinating automated deployments.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
A minimum of 10+ years of experience developing applications in core Java is required.
In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems is necessary.
Experience with the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including building and maintaining production-grade software, is required.
Must have experience working within a GCP environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
Operability experience, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and debugging, is required.
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker is necessary.
Experience with DevOps CI/CD and build tools like Maven or Gradle is required.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is preferred.
Experience with GCP, Cassandra, or Spanner is also preferred.

The anticipated starting pay range for Colorado is $161,000 - $236,060.
For Hawaii and New York (not including NYC), the anticipated starting pay range is $171,400 - $251,350.
For California, New York City, and Washington, the anticipated starting pay range is $187,500 - $275,000.
The role may include variable compensation in the form of bonuses, commissions, or other discretionary payments based on company and individual performance.
Actual compensation is influenced by various factors including skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
