Description:

The Principal Software Engineer (FHIR) will serve as a vital bridge between Nava, technical experts, external developers, and clients.
This role involves driving the overall strategy and architecture for FHIR-based software services within major federal agencies.
Responsibilities include working with software engineers to understand FHIR objects and relationships, crafting long-term strategic roadmaps, and actively participating in HL7 and related standards bodies.
The engineer will develop a deep understanding of the developer user space, prototype new features, and collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams.
The role also includes reviewing and improving user documentation and taking on software engineering tasks as needed.
Requirements:
Candidates must have current and/or prior experience developing API endpoints with Kotlin, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.
A minimum of 6 years of experience in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment is required, preferably in designing and building medium to large-scale web applications on Cloud Platforms.
Strong experience in the healthcare industry, particularly with HL7/FHIR standards, is essential.
Experience utilizing Smart on FHIR standards to build healthcare applications is necessary.
Candidates should possess tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code.
The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker, software engineer, and overall evangelist.
Strong resourcefulness, reliability, and attention to detail are required.
Candidates must have the ability to think strategically about trade-offs and benefits.
An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
