Description:
Outrider is a software company focused on automating distribution yards with electric, self-driving trucks, aiming to improve safety and efficiency while eliminating hazardous manual tasks.
The Principal Motion Planning Engineer will develop and deploy high-performance software for controlling the behaviors of automated electric yard trucks.
The role involves designing, implementing, and deploying motion planning and controls algorithms, as well as developing C++ software for autonomous vehicles.
Responsibilities include building new features for global distribution centers, monitoring performance metrics, providing technical guidance to the planning team, and leading cross-functional efforts with other autonomy stakeholders.
The team is collaborative and committed to continuous improvement, utilizing tools like simulation and data analytics to enhance product performance.
Requirements:
Candidates must have familiarity with state-of-the-art practices in navigation, motion planning, and controls.
Strong C++ software development skills are required, along with a proven track record in navigation and planning in robotics.
Experience in competitive AI companies or startups is necessary, as well as the ability to design and deploy motion planning and control software stacks.
A growth mindset and strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent and fluency in English.
Proven success in developing motion planning and controls software for robots or autonomous vehicles outside of a laboratory setting is required.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $250,000 - $450,000, with actual compensation based on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
