Description:
The Asserts.ai team, part of Grafana Labs, is expanding within the Observability group, focusing on low-latency microservices built in Java and utilizing Graph DB.
The backend team is responsible for providing automated Root Cause Insights by querying Grafana Cloud Metrics, Traces, and Logs databases, integrating with Grafana platform components like Dashboarding and Alerting.
The services are multi-tenant, highly available, and designed to process and store data in Graph and Time Series DB.
The company is seeking a principal level engineer with a strong distributed systems background to lead the Asserts backend initiatives.
Responsibilities include driving technical and business strategy, influencing the product roadmap, and participating in system design and feature delivery.
The role involves building and operating critical systems, ensuring their reliability, performance, and availability, and participating in on-call rotations.
Mentoring and supporting team members is a key aspect of the position, along with becoming a subject matter expert in observability products and systems.
Requirements:
Candidates must be motivated self-starters with a bias towards action and a customer-focused mindset.
Experience in delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping in a self-driven manner is required.
Proficiency in building and deploying SaaS software on cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is necessary.
Strong experience in Java programming and deploying Java-based microservices is essential.
Familiarity with Kubernetes is required.
Candidates should have experience operating production services and participating in on-call rotations.
Active mentoring of team members and sharing knowledge through blog posts or tech talks is expected.
A curiosity for learning new programming languages and frameworks is important.
