Remote Principal Software Engineer, State Estimation

Description:

• Outrider is a software company focused on automating distribution yards with electric, self-driving trucks, aiming to enhance safety and efficiency in freight transportation.
• The company is seeking a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Perception Algorithms & State Estimation to tackle complex problems related to online autonomy.
• The role involves designing and developing state estimation solutions for autonomous vehicles, defining metrics, and collaborating with the perception team and other departments for deployment.
• Responsibilities include mentoring team members and ensuring the achievement of overall perception goals.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be skilled in modern C++ and Python.
• Experience in developing state-of-the-art state estimation solutions for real-time applications in robotics, including Extended/Unscented Kalman Filters, factor graphs, and optimization is required.
• Applicants should have experience with mapping and calibration solutions and working with camera, lidar, and/or radar data in autonomy applications.
• Comfort with complex problem iteration, including problem definition, data handling, debugging, evaluation, and deployment is essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as a self-starter are necessary.
• Ideal candidates should be familiar with best practices and research in motion planning and/or controls and have the ability to design, implement, and deploy motion planning and/or control software stacks.
