Description:
Outrider is a software company focused on automating distribution yards with electric, self-driving trucks, aiming to improve safety and efficiency while promoting sustainable freight transportation.
The company is seeking a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Perception Algorithms & State Estimation to tackle complex perception and state estimation challenges for online autonomy.
The role involves designing and developing state estimation solutions for autonomous vehicles, defining metrics, and collaborating with the perception team and other departments to ensure deployment readiness.
Responsibilities include mentoring team members to achieve perception goals and addressing problems related to object detection, tracking, localization, mapping, and sensor calibration.
Requirements:
Candidates must be skilled in modern C++ and Python.
Experience in developing state-of-the-art state estimation solutions for real-time applications in robotics, including Extended/Unscented Kalman Filters, factor graphs, and optimization is required.
Applicants should have experience with mapping and calibration solutions and working with camera, lidar, and/or radar data in autonomy applications.
Comfort with complex problem iteration, including problem definition, data handling, debugging, evaluation, and deployment is essential.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as a self-starter are necessary.
Ideal candidates should be familiar with best practices and research in motion planning and/or controls and have the ability to design, implement, and deploy motion planning and/or control software stacks.
Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $250,000, with actual compensation based on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
