Description:

  • Outrider is a software company focused on automating distribution yards with electric, self-driving trucks, aiming to improve safety and efficiency while promoting sustainable freight transportation.
  • The company is seeking a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Perception Algorithms & State Estimation to tackle complex perception and state estimation challenges for online autonomy.
  • The role involves designing and developing state estimation solutions for autonomous vehicles, defining metrics, and collaborating with the perception team and other departments to ensure deployment readiness.
  • Responsibilities include mentoring team members to achieve perception goals and addressing problems related to object detection, tracking, localization, mapping, and sensor calibration.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must be skilled in modern C++ and Python.
  • Experience in developing state-of-the-art state estimation solutions for real-time applications in robotics, including Extended/Unscented Kalman Filters, factor graphs, and optimization is required.
  • Applicants should have experience with mapping and calibration solutions and working with camera, lidar, and/or radar data in autonomy applications.
  • Comfort with complex problem iteration, including problem definition, data handling, debugging, evaluation, and deployment is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as a self-starter are necessary.
  • Ideal candidates should be familiar with best practices and research in motion planning and/or controls and have the ability to design, implement, and deploy motion planning and/or control software stacks.

  • The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $250,000, with actual compensation based on skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
