Wasabi Technologies Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer – Storage to join their Software Development team.
The role involves using knowledge of storage devices, the Linux kernel/OS, filesystem, and software development to support Wasabi's hot cloud storage service.
The Wasabi hot cloud storage service is an enterprise-grade public cloud object storage service that utilizes Wasabi-built and optimized software on advanced compute and storage hardware.
The technology stack is deployed as Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) in top-tier data centers across 6 storage regions in the US, EMEA, and JAPAC, with plans for future expansion.
The service is utilized by a global customer base of over 25,000 customers and 4,500 resellers, competing with services like AWS S3, Microsoft Azure Blob, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Storage.
Successful candidates should have expertise in agile software development, strong collaboration skills, and strategic problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills and a solid foundation in software design are essential for connecting with other engineers and developers.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and improving storage software, contributing to new storage capabilities, writing clean and maintainable code, troubleshooting hardware and software, and enhancing the storage team’s software and agile processes.

Requirements:

Candidates must have 10+ years of experience with storage platforms.
A deep understanding of HDD, SSD, disk enclosure, and host adapter hardware, including SAS, NVME, and fabric connectivity, is required.
Strong knowledge of the Linux OS and file systems, preferably including ZFS, is essential.
Experience in developing and deploying backend storage services using Go or C++ is necessary.
An understanding of modern API best practices, including HTTP, REST, Swagger, and gRPC, is required.
Familiarity with modern virtualization and containerization technologies, such as virtual machines, Docker, Kubernetes, and public cloud environments like AWS and Azure, is important.
