Description:
The Principal Solutions Engineer position at Twilio is crucial for enabling customers to shape the future of communications.
The role involves leading the technical pre-sales relationship, proposing technical architectures, demonstrating products, anticipating concerns, and offering creative solutions to build customer trust in Twilio solutions.
Responsibilities include helping customers achieve success by recommending best-practice solutions, guiding them on using Twilio’s APIs, understanding customer technical pains, designing innovative solutions, and building strong customer relationships.
The Principal Solutions Engineer will partner with Account Executives to execute pre-sales activities, such as opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof-of-Concept, RFP, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
The position requires being a recognized pre-sales expert and technical influencer, effectively communicating across departments, owning the strategic vision for the organization, and mentoring peers.
The role involves approximately 25% travel within the United States to connect with customers in-person.
Requirements:
Applicants must have 8+ years of pre-sales experience selling complex, technical products or customer-facing experience, especially in delivery or consulting.
Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to gain audience confidence.
The ideal candidate should be an engaging storyteller capable of communicating complex topics to multiple levels of the audience.
Ability to build a deep understanding of customer communications needs and guide them to a technical solution is essential.
Previous software development experience in areas like Backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP) and Web development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, frontend frameworks - React, Vue.js, Angular) is necessary.
Desired qualifications include familiarity with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and experience in Telecom, SIP, Contact Center, or Security.
