Remote Principal Systems Engineer - Platform Infrastructure

Description:

• Lead the Platform Infrastructure team within Technical Operations to build and operate the bare-metal infrastructure supporting the delivery of security products to Fortune 100 companies
• Focus on delivering server- and low-level service building blocks for the on-premise hybrid cloud environment, including physical hosts, bootstrap services, Kubernetes cluster deployment, and datacenter management
• Collaborate with internal customers to provide self-service access to datacenter infrastructure in automated ways that scale elegantly
• Partner closely with Platform Engineering and Technical Operations teams
• Design, build, and operate highly-available Kubernetes-based infrastructure
• Optimize system and cluster performance, forecast capacity increases, and provide thought leadership on DevOps and Platform Engineering-centric system design
• Mentor and develop engineers on sister teams in a collaborative way
• Participate in an on-call rotation with team members

Requirements:

• 10+ years experience in Linux systems engineering roles supporting bare metal servers, virtualization, and container platforms
• Experience with public cloud and physical data center environments using IaC tools
• Proficiency in automating Linux boot environment and networking fundamentals
• Solid understanding of storage technologies and experience with Kubernetes clusters
• Ability to communicate effectively and support customer-facing SaaS products
• Willingness to tackle new, ambiguous, or complex problems and prioritize improvements
• High team standards around communication, feedback, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
