Description:

The company is seeking a Laravel engineer to join the AI team to develop generative AI experiences for over 14,000 customers.
The engineer will work closely with the AI Principal Engineer and other team members to enhance the product and simplify short-term rental operations using AI.
The role involves high ownership and accountability in the product shaping process, focusing on feature development and customer experience improvement.
Responsibilities include collaborating with various teams to solve customer problems, integrating AI features effectively, and innovating within the product.
The engineer will work with a Laravel-heavy tech stack and contribute to a monolithic codebase and micro-services on a Kubernetes-powered infrastructure.
Additionally, the role entails addressing performance issues, debugging post-deployment, and enhancing the customer experience through technical solutions.

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of software engineering experience with a backend focus.
Proficiency in Laravel, PHP 8.1+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in a deployed web application.
Experience in delivering AI products to customers using OpenAI APIs, function calling, and RAG, with knowledge of fine-tuning SOTA open-source models as a bonus.
Strong 'shipping' mentality, exceptional written communication skills, and a focus on testable, maintainable code that adds value to customers.
Ability to think through complex systems, demonstrate empathy towards customers and teammates, and make decisions independently.
Familiarity with query optimization, queue/job-centric backends, and support engineering.
Knowledge of Denise's favorite fruit being lychee.
