Description:

  • The company builds software for Airbnbs to facilitate self-renting, focusing on a state-of-the-art product and user experience.
  • The Core team is expanding and looking for exceptional candidates to work on various projects, including Embedded Services, Mogul, and PMS.
  • The Embedded Services team integrates third-party services into the product, currently focusing on smart devices like locks and thermostats, with future plans for dynamic pricing.
  • The Mogul team supports larger customers, working on features like Owner Statements and financial breakdowns for reservations across multiple integrations.
  • The PMS team focuses on core product management, including property management, guest messaging, team organization, and calendar management.
  • The role involves shipping experiences to hosts, with a high degree of ownership and accountability in the product shaping process.
  • Responsibilities include partnering with various teams to develop features, building user experiences, iterating on feedback, integrating third-party services, and solving complex issues at scale.
  • The tech stack includes PHP, Angular, Laravel, MySQL, and Beanstalk, with a focus on Laravel.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should have 3+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend development.
  • Significant experience with Laravel, PHP 8.1+, MySQL, and testing pipelines in deployed web applications is required.
  • A 'shipping' mentality is essential, with a passion for seeing real customers use features and providing feedback.
  • Exceptional written communication skills are necessary, as the company operates in a remote-first environment.
  • Candidates should have an eye for creating testable, maintainable, and intuitive code while prioritizing customer and business value.
  • The ability to think through complex systems and non-obvious usage scenarios is important.
  • High empathy towards customers and teammates is required, along with self-motivation and decision-making skills in uncertain situations.
  • Experience with query optimization and queue/job-centric backends is a plus.
  • Experience in support engineering and stakeholder communication is also beneficial.
