Description:

BAO Systems is seeking an experienced Python/AWS Developer to support the implementation of a modern data platform using serverless AWS architecture for a global health project.
The role involves ensuring that data is ingested, processed, stored, and made available to stakeholders for evidence-based decision making.
The ideal candidate will understand the full software development lifecycle and focus on APIs, automation, declarative infrastructure, and continuous integration and deployment.
Responsibilities include defining and writing acceptance tests, collaborating with developers and subject matter experts, creating sample data sets, executing test cases, identifying defects, and continuously improving testing processes.
The position can be remote or based in the DC area, with the ability to obtain a US Government Public Trust background check.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have 2+ years of hands-on programming experience.
Proven experience as a QA Engineer or Python/AWS Developer, specifically in testing data processing workloads, is necessary.
Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and best practices is required.
Comfort working with APIs, CLIs, and SDKs (Python) for implementing test cases is essential.
Proficiency in defining and writing acceptance tests is required.
Familiarity with data processing technologies and frameworks is necessary.
Strong working knowledge of git, GitHub, and distributed version control systems is required.
Candidates must be proficient with SDLC processes and working in an agile environment.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are essential.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities are required.
Desired qualifications include strong experience with AWS services such as Cloudformation, Lambda (Python), Step Functions, Glue, DynamoDB, S3, Cloudwatch, SNS/SQS, and API Gateway.
US Government experience or an international public health background is preferred.
