Description:

The position is for a React Engineer who will also serve as a Material UI Maintainer.
This is a full-time role that can be either a contractor or an employee, depending on circumstances.
The company is remote, with a preference for candidates in the UTC-6 to UTC+5 time zones.
The role is aimed at individuals at the IC4 level or above.
MUI is a remote company that values asynchronous communication over meetings.
The engineer will be a key member of the Core team, directly impacting the project's roadmap.
Responsibilities include building product knowledge, resolving user issues, providing feedback to product managers, and establishing support metrics.
The engineer will interact with users, reduce friction in the product, collaborate with the community, experiment with new features, and ship updates frequently.

Requirements:

Candidates must have expertise in the modern JavaScript ecosystem, including ES2021, TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, webpack, and Babel.
A track record of solving real-world user problems and shipping beautiful user interfaces is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for interfacing with community members and contributing to documentation.
The ability to dive into complex problems and iterate upon the codebase is necessary.
Candidates should be ready to ask and answer questions, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Work should be scoped into well-defined milestones to avoid monolithic deliverables.
Past experience with front-end infrastructure and contributions to a design system is required.
It is preferred that candidates have maintained an active repository and contributed code to open-source projects, particularly MUI.
