Description:
Equilibrium Energy, a clean energy startup, is seeking a Research Software Engineer to build software tools for simulating utility-scale battery operations.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining features for a battery simulation platform, creating tools for visualizing simulation results, and assisting in product development strategy.
The role involves collaborating with engineers, researchers, and product managers to design, build, and ship code, as well as contributing to technical strategy and planning across the company.
The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of software engineering experience, familiarity with machine learning or power systems research, and a degree in a quantitative discipline.
Additional skills such as domain experience in asset simulation, cloud infrastructure knowledge, and optimization techniques are considered advantageous.
Requirements:
4+ years of production software engineering experience in languages like Python, C++, or Julia.
Experience working in machine learning, optimization, quantitative trading, or power systems research.
Familiarity with software development best practices, version control, code reviews, CI/CD, and testing.
Ability to analyze computational results using tools like Jupyter notebooks and matplotlib.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a complex technical environment.
BA/BS/Master's degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
