Remote Ruby Software Engineer

Description:

• Humanitru is an integrations-first software platform for nonprofits that centralizes data and streamlines operations.

• The role involves expanding engineering capacity to deliver features, working with the engineering team to architect and implement product improvements, bug fixes, and performance optimizations.
• The core technology stack includes Ruby on Rails on MySQL, with jQuery and Bootstrap for the front-end, deployed on DigitalOcean/AWS with Phusion Passenger and NGINX.
• Responsibilities include architecting and implementing product features, optimizing platform infrastructure, cleaning and migrating customer data, addressing bug reports, and problem-solving tech roadblocks.
• The position aims to contribute to the 2025 Product Roadmap and maintain 90% test coverage of developed features.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Ruby is highly preferred, or experience with other high-level languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Experience with application server frameworks, particularly Ruby on Rails, is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks like jQuery and Bootstrap is required.
• Experience in data munging and cleaning, including writing migration scripts into databases, is necessary.
• A working knowledge of database architecture, specifically MySQL and general SQL optimization, is required.
• Some experience with DevOps tools such as Capistrano, Phusion Passenger, and NGINX is preferred.
