Description:

The company is looking for a Scala Engineer to join their team in Valencia or Berlin.

The role involves designing and implementing a PaaS eCommerce backend in Scala, working with database mappings and web service APIs.
The engineer will develop and test APIs to ensure a smooth checkout experience for customers worldwide.
Responsibilities include developing a scalable and multi-tenant architecture, contributing to the team’s roadmap, and participating in technical decisions and planning.
The position requires testing software components for usability, functionality, and performance, in collaboration with Product Management.
The engineer will also participate in an on-call rotation for production systems with a globally distributed team.

Requirements:

Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience as a Backend Engineer, specifically developing server-side systems on the JVM using Scala.
A firm understanding of functional programming is required.
Applicants should have a solid understanding of parallel and asynchronous programming, as well as non-blocking I/O.
Experience in developing REST APIs and knowledge of scalable architectures is necessary.
Fluency in English is required for working in international teams.
Candidates should have a desire to constantly improve and learn new technologies and concepts.
Nice to have: Experience with GraphQL and MongoDB or other noSQL databases.
