Description:
Wealthsimple is seeking a Security Detection Developer to join their Canada Data & Engineering team in a permanent full-time remote position.
The role involves designing, developing, and deploying high-fidelity detections in a SIEM and through custom security tools.
Responsibilities include supporting security event and alert investigations, streamlining workflows, and improving detection accuracy in response to evolving threats.
The developer will work with large data sets to identify visibility gaps, gain insights, make decisions, and test hypotheses.
The position also includes assisting in the management of the SIEM and automating processes to maximize team efficiency.
The developer will support incident investigations by conducting thorough analyses of logs and other data to identify root causes and assess impact.
Participation in an on-call rotation to respond to high-priority alerts is required.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, focusing on threat detection, threat hunting, incident response, and SOC operations.
Experience with Public Cloud, WAF, EDR, Python, and Kubernetes is necessary.
Mastery of Splunk SPL is a must, with SQL, Datadog, GraphQL, and other query languages considered a plus.
A strong understanding of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) is required.
The ability to effectively prioritize multiple detection plans based on evolving threats and threat intelligence input is essential.
Candidates should demonstrate good secure coding practices with version control systems like GitHub.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills are necessary, along with excellent collaboration skills and enthusiasm for working in a multi-discipline environment.
Some experience with CTI tooling and processes is preferred.
Candidates should value honesty, transparency, and inclusivity in communication with stakeholders.
A willingness to learn from the team and contribute to each other's success is important.
