Description:
Tailscale is seeking a talented software engineer specializing in security and privacy to help grow their product security team.
The role involves improving the security properties of Tailscale by identifying opportunities for security and privacy features, bug fixes, and defense-in-depth, and implementing them across the codebase.
Responsibilities include auditing Tailscale features for technical security weaknesses, identifying mitigations or solutions, and driving them towards resolution.
The engineer will support engineering decisions with threat modeling and security analysis and expertise.
The position is fully remote within the United States.
Requirements:
Proficiency in developing in at least one programming language, with a preference for Go.
Proficiency in developing for at least one application platform, such as iOS, Android, web, Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Prior experience in a safety-related technical role, including application security, infrastructure security, security operations, penetration testing, threat modeling, user experience design, or digital forensics.
Knowledge of operating system internals and security mechanisms is required.
Knowledge of cryptographic primitives and protocols is necessary.
Familiarity with common networking protocols is essential.
The ability to give and process constructive feedback is important.
Candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup environment is required.
