The position is for a Security Engineer with expertise in NIST 800-53 security controls and a strong technical background in risk and vulnerability management and compliance.
The ideal candidate will support the implementation of security controls, assess vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and RMF.
Responsibilities include developing, assessing, and documenting System Security Plans (SSPs), Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and Risk-Based Decisions (RBDs).
The Security Engineer will work with developers and technical staff to provide guidance on security control families and collect, organize, and submit evidence for Security Control Assessments (SCAs).
A technical understanding of security technologies, including encryption methods and Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts, is required.
Knowledge of SIEM technologies like Splunk and risk and vulnerability management is essential.
The role involves working across teams and external customer groups to develop security strategies, design security solutions, and advise implementation teams during deployment.
Requirements:
A minimum of 8+ years of experience in the Information Technology field with increasing responsibility is required.
At least 5+ years of experience in Information Security solutions is necessary.
Candidates must possess relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CEH.
In-depth knowledge of NIST 800-53, RMF, FedRAMP, FISMA, and related federal security standards is essential.
Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques is required.
An understanding of networking concepts, including subnetting, routing, VPC/VNet, security groups, and load balancing, is necessary.
Experience with microservices-based architecture and designing security solutions for multi-tenant applications using tools for containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience supporting security for the AWS cloud platform is also highly desirable.
Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant.
