Description:

The Security Engineer II position is a remote role based in Canada, specifically targeting candidates from Toronto and Vancouver.
The successful candidate will have prior experience in application security within the retail/ecommerce industry and will be a hands-on technologist.
Responsibilities include working independently and as part of a team, conducting threat modeling, and collaborating with developers to implement security measures.
The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining security tools and controls to protect infrastructure and applications.
The candidate will help build and maintain runbooks, develop security metrics, and conduct security reviews for software systems.
Responsibilities also include enhancing access controls, collaborating with various teams to integrate security best practices, and educating employees on security awareness.
The candidate will participate in security detection, incident response, and compliance programs with relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in security engineering or application security is required.
At least 2 years of experience with AWS is necessary.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript is required.
Experience with OWASP and NIST security standards and frameworks is essential.
Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD processes, and tools like Jira, Jenkins, and GitHub is required.
The ability to establish and report metrics and KPIs to executive leadership is necessary.
Preferred skills include experience as a DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer, knowledge of SIEM tools, and strong communication skills.
Hands-on knowledge of AWS security tools and experience securing the software supply chain are also preferred.
