Description:

Quora is a "remote-first" company, allowing this position to be performed remotely from multiple countries.
The Security Software Engineer will be a key member of the Infrastructure team, responsible for improving the security of cloud infrastructure and Quora services.
This role involves defining and assessing the organization’s security strategy and policy, identifying areas for improvement, and driving results.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying applications to monitor cloud infrastructure security and detect intrusions.
The engineer will deploy open-source tools or develop in-house solutions for OS hardening, access logging, and analysis.
They will build features or tools to ensure strong security in Quora products and provide security guidance to engineering teams.
The role requires collaboration with product engineers to secure customer data in compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
The engineer will drive the definition and implementation of security policies and monitor compliance.
Initial incident triage will be conducted to determine the scope, urgency, and potential impact of security incidents, leading and coordinating the incident response process.

Requirements:

Candidates must be available for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's coordination hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Security is required.
Candidates should have 4+ years of experience in Infrastructure and Information Security.
A minimum of 4+ years working on AWS with multiple production workloads is necessary.
Knowledge of AWS security best practices and security controls using AWS services such as IAM, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch is required.
Attention to detail, good communication and collaboration skills, self-motivation, and a strong sense of ownership of tasks are essential.

For US candidates, the salary range is $147,200 - $275,750 USD plus equity and benefits.
For Canada candidates, the salary range is $151,270 - $283,374 CAD plus equity and benefits.
