Description:
Agile Six is seeking a Senior Accessibility Engineer with expertise in React.js, Assistive Technologies, and Web Accessibility standards to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The role involves creating highly accessible web applications, enhancing existing React Components and Design System, and developing new components.
The ideal candidate should be patient, proactive, and positive, understanding the impact of small changes on end users and dedicated to accessibility.
The mission is to ensure disability claims on VA.gov are user-friendly for Veterans and easy for VA employees to evaluate.
Responsibilities include ensuring accessible outcomes, resolving design system issues, developing 508-compliant frontend solutions, collaborating with diverse teams, and promoting accessibility standards.
The position may evolve over time based on the candidate's strengths, interests, and the evolving delivery environment.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience as an Accessibility Engineer in digital product teams, with expertise in Web Accessibility tools and standards.
Proficiency in React, JavaScript, Section-508, WCAG Accessibility requirements, and human-centered design best practices.
Ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively, and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with front-end engineering patterns, assistive technologies, and enterprise-sized front-end systems.
Must have lived and worked in the United States for 3 out of the last 5 years.
