Description:
Instructure is seeking AI Platform Engineers to build and maintain core LLM-powered services and APIs for online learning tools.
The role involves architecting and implementing services and infrastructure to enable rapid development and deployment of LLM-powered features.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing APIs and domain services, building scalable AWS infrastructure for LLM interactions, and creating developer tooling and documentation.
The engineer will establish best practices for AI and LLM use, collaborate with feature teams, and maintain scalable and performant APIs.
The position requires writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and participating in code reviews.
Requirements:
Candidates must have prior software engineering experience with API design and distributed system development.
Strong experience in building backend services and REST or GraphQL APIs is required.
Knowledge of API design best practices regarding security, performance monitoring, and rate limiting is necessary.
An understanding of LLM integration and usage patterns is essential.
Strong collaboration and written and verbal communication skills are needed.
Past experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably on AWS, is required.
Experience with Node.js or a willingness to learn is necessary.
Experience with TypeScript or a desire to learn is preferred.
A background in developer tooling and API documentation is preferred.
